A member of the Hauppauge Industrial Association (HIA-LI) for four years, Melissa Negrin-Wiener, elder law attorney and partner at Cona Elder Law in Melville, was recently selected as

Co-chair of the HIA Healthcare Committee.

“My role as co-chair is to develop programs and educational events to help Long Island business leaders address and manage the vast scope of health care issues in the workplace from both the employer and employee side, ” says Melissa.

Melissa is a leader in the field of Elder Law which encompasses a wide array of healthcare issues. She has been pro-active in helping businesses address the impact of elder-caregiving on their workforce.  Melissa has been instrumental in the launch of an elder care employee benefit for local businesses which provides support for elder-caregivers allowing them to remain present and productive at work.

The mission of the HIA-LI Healthcare Committee is to:

     1) Address the wide scope of healthcare issues in the workplace and serve as the educational and referral resource for members regarding health

     2) Connect members to private and government resources that support their business endeavors

     3) Provide relevant monthly seminars that connect members with experts in the occupational healthcare field

In addition to her committee membership for the past two years, Melissa was a speaker at the 2016 HIA Health and Wellness Conference where she spoke about eldercare as a new workplace stressor.
