Cona Elder Law hosted the event for its 35 team members at the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame (LIMEHoF) in Stony Brook. The event, a murder mystery and crime scavenger hunt within the museum, provided a way for staff to get out of the office, and bond.
The law firm had retained Watson Adventures for the event. Watson runs events across the country, including Long Island. In addition to LIMEHoF, Watson runs other events such as Cradle of Aviation, Long Island Museum in Stony Brook and more, according to Watson’s website.
“Our teambuilding events are more than just a way to boost morale – they are an opportunity to connect with the local community and its cultural treasures,” Jennifer Cona, founder and managing partner of Cona Elder Law, said in a news release about the event.
“By choosing venues like LIMEHOF, we aim to promote awareness and appreciation of Long Island’s rich artistic, musical, and historical heritage,” she added.
Studies show that teambuilding events can help colleagues connect and feel a sense of belonging in the workplace, according to Harvard Business Review. These events also foster collaboration.
When planning events, Cona looks to incorporate spots in the region that can also carry into the work of team members and their clients – and perhaps benefit the region.
Last year, for instance, the law firm’s employees volunteered at Island Harvest at their cooperative farm in Brentwood to harvest okra, beans and golden burst berries, while planting broccoli and cauliflower.
