Customized Estate and Elder Law Planning in 2025

As we begin 2025, we are excited to continue to support our clients and our community through advocacy, outreach, education, and best-in-class elder law and trust and estates legal services. Our attorneys at Cona Elder Law look forward to bringing you creative solutions, innovative programming, and unmatched client services based on our experience serving tens of thousands of clients over the past twenty-six years, as well as our own personal experiences helping our aging family members and loved ones. Because for us, it’s personal.

We thank you for the trust you place in us as we assist families across multiple generations with their estate and asset protection needs. In our line of work, you are never too young or too old to plan, and never too rich or too poor. For our young families, we prepare Wills and estate plans to protect minor children and children with special needs. For clients who come to us in their 80s or 90s, we may be engaging in “crisis planning,” protecting assets after a health care crisis. (Of course, in between this time, it is important not to “set it and forget it;” you should review your estate plan every five years to ensure it continues to reflect your wishes and to accommodate developments in your life circumstances such as births, deaths, divorce, changes in assets, and similar situations in the lives of your beneficiaries.) For our high-net-worth clients, we engage in estate planning to reduce or eliminate estate taxes with customized gifting, living trusts, business succession planning, and other specific leveraging tools. And for our middle-income clients, we preserve assets such as the family home and accumulated nest eggs to protect assets from the costs of long-term care, allowing inheritances to be passed on to the next generation.

The most important point is that you have a plan customized to your specific needs. And that takes care, consideration, time, and even compassion. Your estate and elder law attorney must listen to you and your concerns, understand you and your family dynamics, and, just as important, spend as much time as necessary with you so that you understand the plan and your legal documents. That is how we approach our work at Cona Elder Law. We treat our clients like family. Why? Because we have all done this work for our own family members and loved ones. And we know how to treat our loved ones. Plus, we know how we want to be treated. So that is how we treat you, our clients. It’s really very simple.

Our client services philosophy may be simple, but the legal work is not.  Highly tailored, customized legal services in a complicated area of law that is always changing requires great talent and skill. And, after all, an estate and elder law plan is like a parachute: you only use it once and you better be sure it works!

We look forward to another year providing unsurpassed legal services to you while pursuing our mission of making Long Island a great place to live, work, and age with grace.
