Early planning for Medicaid Home Care benefits is now more important than ever.
After much delay and anticipation, new Medicaid Home Care rules are slated to take effect on October 1, 2022. As such, there will be a 30 month look-back period and penalty period for all asset transfers during that time period. Currently, there is no look-back and no penalty periods for Medicaid Home Care benefits (adult day care, home health aides and other community-based services).
The time to act is now! If you are on the fence about applying for yourself or a loved one to receive home care services under the Community Medicaid program, now is the time to apply under the current rules with no look-back period and no transfer penalties.
