Jennifer Cona, elder law attorney and managing partner of Cona Elder Law and Roseanne Beovich, senior associate attorney at the firm, were chosen as two of the Top Women in Law by the Hofstra University School of Law, Center for Children, Families and Law. The first annual celebratory luncheon was attended by over 300 people featuring Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas as the keynote speaker.
Jennifer Cona practices exclusively in the field of Elder Law and Trusts and Estates, including representing older adults and their families in connection with Medicaid planning, preservation of assets, estate planning, special needs planning, Veterans benefits and guardianships. Roseanne Beovich concentrates her practice in estate litigation, estate administration, appellate advocacy and guardianships, diving her time between the health care reimbursement and recovery department and the estate litigation department.
“I am honored to be included in this inaugural group of accomplished women attorneys,” said Jennifer Cona. “It is so important to mentor and support not just young women attorneys but women at all phases in their legal careers.”
Stated Roseanne Beovich, “It is wonderful and humbling to be recognized as a role model for other women attorneys. As a tutor for several Hofstra law school students, I realize how important it is to support and encourage young women who will be entering the legal profession on Long Island.”
“All of our honorees serve as a role model for the next generation of women lawyers and judges and speaks volumes about their character and perseverance,” says Gail Prudenti, Executive Director of Children, Families, and the Law. “When many women lawyers began their practice, it was uncommon to see another woman on the opposite side of the courtroom, let alone on the bench. Today, women attorneys are represented in the highest echelons of the legal professional and the judiciary. However, the ‘glass ceiling’ has not yet been completely shattered.”
