Jennifer Cona and Jack Genser Are Joined by Assemblyman Andrew Raia and Other Officials In Presenting Scholarship Awards to Students of Half Hollow Hills High School West
Jennifer Cona and Jack Genser of the Melville based elder law and estate planning law firm,Cona Elder Law (Cona Elder Law) launched the GDCG Scholarship Awards Program this year, presenting scholarships to graduating seniors of Half Hollow Hills High School West. The Cona Elder Law Elder Advocacy Scholarship was presented to graduating senior, Jill Schackner and the Cona Elder Law Triumph Scholarship went to graduating senior, Joanna Zuaro.
Joining Ms. Cona and Mr. Genser in presenting scholarship awards was Assemblyman Andrew Raia (R,C,I,WF-East Northport,) who presented the HSW Citizenship Award to student, Kristina Cavallo. Over 100 scholarships were presented at the ceremony held on May 23, in categories ranging from citizenship, academics and leadership. Other officials presenting that evening included Supervisor Steve Bellone, Legislator Elie Mystal and Legislator Steve Stern.
“The Cona Elder Law Scholarship program was createdthis year to recognize students who have enriched the lives of community members through humanitarian efforts and volunteerism.” said Jennifer Cona, scholarship presenter and partner of Cona Elder Law. “The Cona Elder Law Elder Advocacy Scholarship was awarded to Jill Schackner for demonstrating a heightened compassion for members of our senior community. Jill runs the HSW chapter of Glamour Gals, a school program providing makeovers for women in nursing homes and senior assisted living facilities. We applaud Jill for her efforts to brighten the lives of elderly women here on Long Island.”
Presenting the HSW Citizenship Award to Kristina Cavallo, Assemblyman Raia said, “It’s important to recognize a student’s ability to motivate others and to contribute to their community in a positive way. There is no doubt that students like Kristina, who exude these skills today, will grow to become our future leaders of tomorrow.”
According to Jack Genser, scholarship presenter and partner of Cona Elder Law, the Cona Elder Law Triumph Scholarship was awarded to Joanna Zuaro for setting a powerful example of the tenacity, courage and beauty of the human spirit. “Joanna has achieved academic success while providing support and care to those around her.” said Mr. Genser. “She is the embodiment of grace and perseverance and holds terrific promise for the future.”
