Jennifer Cona, Esq., managing partner, Cona Elder Law, elder law firm in Melville, has been elected Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Long Island Alzheimer’s Foundation (LIAF). She has served on the Board for the past five years and on the Legal Advisory Board for 16 years.
Ms. Cona is currently working with LIAF on strategic planning and rebranding to reshape the future of the organization. She is involved with launching new and expanded programs, including the Memory Fitness Center, developing strategic alliances with other social service agencies and finding new satellite locations that will broaden LIAF’s reach geographically.
“This is an exciting time for me to help LIAF with its plans to expand the population they serve and reach out to more areas on LI,” says Ms. Cona. "With the recent development of The Memory Fitness Center, I helped LIAF extend its programs to Westbury by forming a relationship with Amber Court assisted living. Amber Court will host the Memory Fitness Center’s Respite Program every Tuesday for caregivers, people who want to maintain and enhance their cognitive abilities and those with Alzheimer's or a related dementia."
According to Tori Cohen, executive director of LIAF, “We are thrilled that Jennifer has accepted this role, bringing her keen understanding of elder care issues as an elder law attorney and numerous contacts in the community, which will benefit our changing mission. Her energy and enthusiasm to contribute to LIAF’s success and creative ideas are unsurpassed."
Not only does Ms. Cona serve LIAF, but she contributes to several other charitable groups, both local and national. She launched Cona Elder Law’s own charity Senior Dreams Come True which grants wishes to low-income seniors. Senior Dreams has granted wishes to help people meet basic needs, such as dental care and home repairs, as well as fulfilling life-long dreams such as uniting a senior with her first grandchild.
As managing partner of Cona Elder Law, Ms. Cona practices exclusively in the field of Elder Law including Medicaid planning, preservation of assets, estate planning, estate litigation, probate and administration of estates, guardianships, special needs planning, and Veterans benefits.
