Ken Kern, 35, resident of Soundview, LI has been named partner in the Elder Law and Estate Planning firm Cona Elder Law, Melville.  Over the course of 11 years with the firm, Ken rose from law clerk to associate attorney to senior associate and now partner.

Heading up the firm’s Health Care Department, Ken concentrates his practice in Health Care
Facility Representation that includes civil litigation, complex Medicaid eligibility cases, Fair Hearings, Article 78 proceedings, guardianships and more.  With Ken’s expertise and ability to assist nursing homes with complex issues, Cona Elder Law now represents more than 70 facilities and long-term health care providers throughout New York.

To continue growing this practice area, Ken regularly provides continuing education seminars for health care administrators and in-service seminars for health care facility staff.  Ken is a New York State Certified Guardian, Court Evaluator and Counsel to Incapacitated Persons. Working in the mental health care field for over 15 years, Ken has experience as a case manager and direct care counselor for mentally ill and developmentally disabled adults.

“I am passionate about my work, which has lead to great results for our clients,” says Ken.  “My goal in managing the Health Care Department is to harness my dedication to this field to energize the attorneys and staff on my team and to continue to grow my department by offering unequaled service to our health care facility clients.”  Ken supervises four attorneys and six support staff.

Ken was a merit scholar at Hofstra University School of Law, where he received his Juris Doctor Degree with honors. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Stony Book University.
