The John W. Engeman Theater at Northport Presents:
The Music Man
Book, music and lyrics by Meredith Willson,
Based on a story by Meredith Willson and Franklin Lacey
Winner of 5 Tony Awards, including Best Musical
An affectionate tribute to Smalltown, U.S.A. of a bygone era, Meredith Willson's The Music Man follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill as he cons the people of River City, Iowa into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band he vows to organize - this despite the fact he doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash, however, are foiled when he falls for Marian the librarian. Filled with big laughs, barbershop quartets and classic musical numbers such as Seventy-Six Trombones, Trouble, Goodnight Ladies, Marian the Librarian and Till There Was You, The Music Man is sure to delight the entire family.
The John W. Engeman Theater at Northport is Long Island's only year round professional theater company (www.engemantheater.com). From curb to curtain, we have made it our business to provide affordable, quality Theater in an elegant one-of-a-kind location with outstanding facilities and extraordinary service. The renovated Theater is also home to the John W. Engeman School of the Performing Arts, offering classes and camp programs for children.
