Melville, NY….May 8, 2019… Cona Elder Law recently hosted a Food Fair to raise funds for Island Harvest, the largest hunger relief organization on Long Island. As part of the effort, all employees brought in homemade dishes and desserts to “sell” to each other during lunchtime.
“The Food Fair was a wonderful way to kick-start a series of efforts our firm is participating in for Island Harvest,” said Cona Elder Law Managing Partner Jennifer Cona. “Not only are we continuing our fundraising through July, we are also taking part in Island Harvest’s annual Stamp Out Hunger event. The firm is sending 2 teams to volunteer at the Island Harvest warehouse on 2 separate dates to pack, sort and prepare for distribution the food items collected by the mail carriers on May 11. This efforts helps more than 300,000 Long Islanders in need.
The firm’s next fundraising event will be on May 23, when employees will participate in a Tag Sale, donating items to sell to each other to raise funds for Island Harvest. Activities will culminate in the 5k Run/Walk to End Hunger on July 11, of which the firm is a major sponsor.
Last year, the firm raised over $10,000 through its in-house fundraisers for a wide range of organizations, including The Lisa Colagrossi Foundation, which is dedicated to raising awareness about brain aneurysms, the Northwell Health Foundation NIC-U, Canine Companions for Independence and Honor Flight, which provides a day trip to Washington DC for Veterans to visit their war memorials.
