What would you do to raise money for charity?
Would you get into a boxing ring?
Well… that’s exactly what our attorney, Roseanne Beovich, is doing!
Help us support Long Island’s Fight for Charity!
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
Members of Cona Elder Law are on a mission – a mission to raise money and support for Long Island’s Fight for Charity. We have put up one of our attorneys, Roseanne Beovich, a/k/a "Rohammad Ali", to get into the ring to raise money for The Genesis School, Long Island Community Chest and The National Foundation for Human Potential.
Now in its tenth year, the Long Island Fight for Charity has become one of the most anticipated events on Long Island. Local businessmen and women volunteer to train and box to raise money and awareness for various local charities on Long Island. The event brings together dozens of participating businesses, sponsors, supporters and volunteers. Over the past nine years, the event has raised over $700,000 on behalf of local charities. As the Fight for Charity has a broad reach, the funds raised impact the lives of thousands of families in our local community.
This year’s event will be held at the Long Island Hilton on November 25, 2013. Roseanne has been training diligently with the Fight for Charity’s Eye of the Tiger boxing coaches to get prepared for the main event!
But now we need your support! We have pledged to raise at least $5,000 in order to put Ro in the ring in support of these local charities.
Long Island’s Fight for Charity 2013 Benefiting Charities are:
♦ The Genesis School: Established in 1995 as part of Eden II, an internationally known non-profit organization serving exclusively individuals with autism, the Genesis School provides a full-day program to people with autism from ages 5 to 21 at its premier school in Plainview. Programming includes communication academics, social skills, self-help skills and the promotion of adaptive behavior. For young adults, the school offers training in vocational skills, independent work habits and community integration. The Genesis School focuses on encouraging and promoting people with autism to become productive and fulfilled members of our society. For more information, visit eden2.org/eden2.html.
♦ Long Island Community Chest: LICC provides short-term financial assistance to individuals and families who have experienced a traumatic, life-altering setback affecting their daily lives, such as a parent who can no longer work because of a sick child, or someone unable to pay unexpected medical bills. LICC serves people who have exhausted all traditional means of help and have nowhere else to turn. For more information, visit licommunitychest.org.
♦ National Foundation for Human Potential: The mission of the National Foundation for Human Potential is to promote, develop and encourage educational and support services for children and adults with different abilities through financial and other means of support. To meet that purpose, the Foundation raises funds and provides contributions and grant awards to organizations, which build communities. For more information, visit nffhp.org.
